Hi, my name is Laura, a very warm welcome to Space4Serenity.
I’m a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist working online from my office in Sheffield, UK.
I use a person-centred approach, which means I provide a safe, confidential space, so you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
It is important that you feel comfortable, and know you won’t be judged as you unpack your thoughts. I will work with you through whatever you bring to your sessions, with warmth, acceptance and a little humour, so you feel listened to and able to share the issues that bring you to counselling.
As a trauma informed therapist, I’ve helped many clients notice, and regulate the symptoms of trauma, and worked with them so they don’t feel trapped in the legacy of the traumatic event(s), and develop a different relationship to their past.
I have a deep interest in the effect of the mind / body relationship, particularly in areas of anxiety and trauma. I use mindfulness techniques, to help clients connect with their bodies, and the sensations they may be experiencing. Where appropriate, I help clients understand their bodies reaction / sensations and the physical processes that may be causing this.
What should I expect in our first session?
In the first session, I will briefly talk you through what is called the counselling contract. This explains what I am able to provide as a service and the limits of counselling. Following this, the session will be guided by you, and we can work through the issues you want to discuss at a pace that is comfortable to you.
